Matthew 1:18-25 (New Living Translation)
The Birth of Jesus the Messiah
18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement[a] quietly.
20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,[b] for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:
23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,[c]
which means ‘God is with us.’”
24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. 25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.

1. Our lesson begins with Mary and Joseph was engaged to be married.
2. Mary was a virgin and told by an angel of the Lord that she was going to have a baby.
3. Mary never knew a man so who helped her conceived the baby, God the Holy Spirit.
4. Now, Joseph didn’t see this coming and he had to make a decision. Do I put her away or do I marry her..Did Joseph make a decision right away? No
5. He took his time and said (Make jokes..keep her/ put her away..keep her..put her away..)..give the example about You see your favorite toy, in the same corner..and a friend comes over. After the friend leaves you notice your favorite toy is gone. Do you assume that your friend took it and just stop being his friend? Or do you look for and if you can’t find it..then talk to him ..and still try to be his friend?
6. An angel of the Lord told Joseph while he was sleep to take Mary to be his wife and told him the baby was conceived by the Holy Spirit. When he is born call his name, what? Jesus
7. Did Joseph Obey? Yes .. what does Jesus means: He will save his people from their sins.
