Subject: “The blessing of believing”
Text: John 1:6-7 (New International Version)
6There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe
1. It is a blessing just to believe and trust in God
2. God is a rewarded of those that come to him and diligently seek him
3. So many of us are not being blessed because we just don’t believe in God..if you want to tell, look at the tithers’
4. If you truly believe in God, you will have no problem trusting God in order to tithe
5. IF you believe God, you know God has your back; he will fight your battles and you are not worried about Satan.
6. IF people don’t like you, don’t worry, they didn’t like Jesus
The Blessing of Believing
John describes the purpose of John the Baptist.. through him, that all men might believe
Faith is essential if we are to find ourselves pleasing to God and experience the rich rewards that comes ONLY from God
IF you want to bless, you have to believe God, you have tot rust God when you can’t see your way out when you have only a little food, the car note is behind, the house note is behind, you have to Trust God. When the wife and husband both gone crazy, you got to Trust God.
I. Through believing in Jesus, we become the children of God
A. Most of Jesus contemporaries rob themselves of becoming true sons and daughters of God
B. Don’t you know when you were born in to God’s family, you are somebody special?
C. Don’t worry about what folks say about you or think about you and the names they call you, What does that mean to me? NOTHING
D. We become the children of God through FAITH – Gal. 3:26, John 3:14-16

Sons of God
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
John 3:14-16 (New International Version)
14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.[a]
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[b] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
E. The Faith that makes a Full commitment to Jesus is that which brings us into a child’s relationship with the Father!
F. A lot of us just half committed (i.e. PT is looking for the choir, 200 something voices and this is the turn out, 26 Deacons and this is the turn out). Friday night is a not a good night to praise the Lord, but I say, any night to praise the Lord is a good night!)
G. How committed are you? When your wallet get saved then you are probably saved. You can’t convinced me that when your wallet is not saved that you are saved.
H. Do we have any true believers in Christ???? You are going to believe when the message cuts you up, you are going to believe when your money is low, you are going to believe when you’re laid off from your job, you will believe God! As soon as you catch one piece of hell in your life, you fall out and cry and say, “What should I do?” – The answer is, do what you been doing, FALL ON YOUR KNEES AND TALK TO YOUR FATHER ABOUT IT! TALK IT OVER WITH JESUS, You can’t just sing those songs, there comes a time that you got to put those words in Actions.
There will be a time when what you say and sing about, YOU WILL BE TESTED!!!
II. Through believing in Jesus we avoid the death that sin brings
A. All of us should be dead and in hell (there isn’t anyone perfect in here)
B. All of us have sin and come short of the glory of God (this morning!!!)
C. Some of you say the things I use to do..You are a liar, you are still doing them!
D. Some people obviously don’t what sin is because if you study the bible there were over 600 commandments and some of us can’t recite 10 of them
E. Romans 6:23 tell us, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!
F. God spoke words of warning after dawn of human history regarding the penalty of eating the forbidden fruit. You know every since Adam ate, we are always eating something we have no business eating.
G. Some of the churches that PT goes to, we still eat forbidden fruit (i.e. eating junk food from the preacher, wondering why you don’t ever grow)
i. He’s telling to reach up and pull down your blessing and you still broke
ii. He tell you “Name it and Claim it” and you been doing that for 40 years and you still don’t have a blessing
iii. One lady told PT that her pastor told her to set your wedding date and buy your dress..guess what?? She is still single..PT said.. Fool you don’t even have a boyfriend, how does that make sense??
H. God told Adam he can freely eat from any tree in the garden but you can’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of the good and evil for when you eat of it, you will surely die. Adam and Eve did he and they did die, it was a spiritual death.
I. Some of us are sitting in the church now, dying a spiritual death cause we won’t acknowledge that we are sitting in our sin. I dare you to get real and tell God about it! He already know about it he just want to hear you confess.
J. If you have not invited Jesus into your heart and have not accepted, believe and confessed that God has raised his son from the dead, you are still spiritually dead.
K. We regain the life of God that was lost because of sin!
L. Through believing in Jesus, we receive the removal of the condemnation of sin! Thank God that he removed that penalty, somebody can shout, NO CONDEMNATION!
NO CONDEMNATION!!!!
M. You were condemned, destine to go to hell but because of what Jesus accomplished for you, it’s been removed! Yes, I messed up!!! God didn’t say I wasn’t guilty! He said you’re not condemned!
N. You were born in sin, shapen in inquity, ever since you got here you been a sinner.
O. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, the consequences that sin has brought on the human race BREAKS GOD’S HEART
P. The bible is a record of God’s redemptive activities in making provisions that makes possible the removal of condemnation of sin and the restoration of life and the fellowship that was lost in the Garden of Eden.
I HAVE BEEN RESTORED!!!!
See, when folks tell me how bad I am, I say, I already know that!!!
Tell me something I don’t know..as a matter of fact, for anything you can tell
me about myself..I got some more that you don’t even know!
BUT I’VE BEEN RESTORED!
Folks always know something on you, don’t they?
My pastor help me with that and just say, is that all you know? I can tell you some more!
John declares, that God did not send Jesus in the world to condemn the world but through him, the world might be sin!
PT comments; Some people say, well, if you keep on sinning, you won’t be blessed.
Pt said, I can’t tell that lie, it looks like the drug dealer, the Mafia and Russo was doing pretty good.
But eventually, you will get caught and God will deal with you.
III. Those who put faith in Jesus as savior, experience the removal of condemnation and this means that they receive the blessing of acceptance into God’s family
IV. DON’T YOU KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED IN GOD’S FAMILY?
A. I GOT ACCEPTED IN THE ROYAL FAMILY
B. You have the greatest family going on, you didn’t have to put on any airs or change your clothes, you came like you are!
C. You can kick me out of your family, I’ve been accepted in God’s family
D. I’m a royal priest hood, I’m a chose generation, I’m a peculiar people
E. I’ve been chosen.. God is FOR US, rather than against us
F. God is more eager to be gracious to forgive than he is to be Just and Judgemental
V. GOD IS MERCIFUL GOD, LONGSUFFERING AND A PATIENCE GOD
VI. GOD STILL AINT’ KNOCKED YOU DOWN DEAD AND YOU CAN THINK ABOUT ALL THE JUNK YOU USE TO DO AND THAT YOU ARE STILL DOING, YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD!
A. Most people when they are mad at someone, it just you
B. You mad cause they won’t go to Club sin and Club Lust
C. In fact, YOU ARE like a bunch of crabs in a bucket, just waiting to pull someone down when they are trying to get out
i. They are trying to get out and you’re holding in there
ii. You don’t want to loose your drink buddy
iii. You don’t want to loose your weed buddy
iv. You don’t want to loose your gay partner, so you try to hold them there. So you get mad when they try to get out!!!
